Pre-insulated pipe is a “sandwich”-type construction which consists of “inner” steel or galvanized tube, polyurethane foam heat insulation layer and outer galvanized or high-density polyethylene covering (it depends on pipelining type).


In Belarus, pre-insulated pipelines have been applied for around 15 years while in Europe this type of pipelines has been applied for more than 40 years and has reached 80% from total amount of piped networks. According to the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus dated 27.12.2002 all the economic entities should apply pre-insulated pipes while constructing, major repairing or reconstructing heat networks.

PI-pipes and shaped objects with polyethylene sheath are used for underground pipelining of heat networks. Pre-insulated pipes and shaped parts with galvanized sheath are used for above-ground pipelining.

Shaped objects for pipe branches installment.


Connecting devices used for butt insulation in PI-pipes. They are manufactured by unique technology on the basis of high-strength modified polyethylene. They hermetically shrink on the pipe casing under the influence of temperature.




It is used for monitoring of PUF-insulation condition during all in-service time. It helps to define kind of damage, detect its location and repair it.

PI-pipe is reliable and effective but the effectiveness and reliability of the heat pipeline can be significantly lower if flashing of PI-pipe butt junctions is bad.
